About Us

Why choose Bertemes Johnson & Company?

We are a full service public accounting firm, large enough to offer a full array of accounting, taxation and consulting services at reasonable rates, but small enough to know you on a personal level.

How We Charge For Our Services

How many times have you cringed as you opened an invoice from your CPA? Unlike traditional CPA firms that charge clients based on staff billing rates and the number of hours each staff spends on their account, we have a different approach.

Bertemes Johnson & Company offers its small business clients a monthly fixed fee for all accounting, payroll and tax services. Regardless of the number of hours spent on your account, your bill is fixed. As a result, many of our clients have experienced savings in excess of 50% versus their former CPAs.

We determine the appropriate fee through a preliminary assessment process, which involves meeting with the potential small business client to gain an understanding of their needs.

Bertemes Johnson & Company also offers fixed fees for annual services such a corporate and individual tax preparation.

Specialties: We are dedicated to serving individuals and owner-managed businesses.

Services to each client are tailored to meet their particular needs, whether it's the selection of an operating entity, accounting software and an employee benefits package for a new business, or providing tax services to an established organization.

Our credentials include Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and QuickBooks® ProAdvisor. We have also earned the QuickBooks® Advanced Certified Advisor status.

Compilation & Review

There are times when an audit isn't necessary but independently prepared, full-disclosure financial statements are needed. For those cases, we offer the preparation of compiled or reviewed financial statements with full disclosure or, when appropriate, with disclosures omitted. All our reviews are conducted in accordance with Statements on Standards for Accounting and Review Services (SSARS).

Other Assurance Solutions

Have a need to review your internal controls? Buying or selling a business and need to do some due diligence or special reporting? We have the expertise to help you with these and many other special reporting and documentation services.

What is the difference between compiled and reviewed financial statements?

Compilation (No Assurance Provided):

A compilation is a service, the objective of which is to assist management in presenting financial information in the form of financial statements without undertaking to obtain or provide any assurance that there are no material modifications that should be made to the financial statements in order for the statements to be in conformity with the applicable financial reporting framework. Although a compilation is not an assurance engagement, it is an attest engagement. In summary, a compilation is the lowest form of financial statement assurance.

Review Engagement (Limited Assurance):

A review is a service, the objective of which is to obtain limited assurance that there are no material modifications that should be made to the financial statements in order for the statements to be in conformity with the applicable financial reporting framework. In a review engagement, the accountant should accumulate review evidence to obtain a limited level of assurance. A review engagement is an assurance engagement as well as an attest engagement. In summary, a review is the middle of the road in the financial statement world. It provides more assurance than a compilation, but less than an audit.
